Yabucoa Puerto Rico
Savor Timeless Natural Beauty
You could have a truly great time without ever leaving the pristine sands of Lucía Beach, but then you’d be missing out on the rest of the phenomenal sights and sounds of Yabucoa Puerto Rico, a small historical town in southeast Puerto Rico. Surrounded on three sides by verdant hillsides and bordered on the other by the shimmering Caribbean Sea, Yabucoa is a hidden gem in southeast Puerto Rico.
Known for its sugar cane production, the Yabucoa area features plenty of natural gems, one of the finest of which is the Bosque Estatal de Carite, or the Carite Forest Reserve, a large area of protected forest that is home to 6,000 acres of tree-covered terrain and a wide range of wildlife. The reserve sits about 30 miles west of our hotel and is easily accessible by car.
If you’re looking for lounging locations, Yabucoa is boasts a bevy of beaches, including Lucía Beach, Guayanés Beach and Cocal Beach.

Southeast Puerto Rico’s pristine beaches offer access to the sparkling waters of Caribbean Sea. Yabucoa is located just a short distance inland from the region’s many beaches. The annual Beach Festival takes place in May.

Located just a few miles south of Yabucoa, the Punta Tuna lighthouse provides sweeping views of the Caribbean looking southeast from Puerto Rico. No matter if you’re looking for solitude and quiet or a romantic waterfront spot, Punta Tuna is an appealing option.

Roig Historic Sugar Refinery
This attraction showcases the area’s rich history as a fertile location for sugar cane growth. The Roig sugar mill is one of the last functioning sugar mills in Puerto Rico, and the town celebrates its Sugar Cane Festival each May.

Hacienda Santa Lucía Ruins
Just down the road from the Roig refinery sits the remnants of Hacienda de Santa Lucia, a former sugar plantation. Only one wall of the original structure remains, giving visitors a look at the natural progression that has elapsed since its closure.
